2011 Preview: Offensive Line

Five key lettermen with multiple years of starting experience return to the offensive line unit in 2011. The group was instrumental in VMI's improved rushing numbers as the season progressed including 370 yards total offense output and 140 yards rushing in week 10.

Overall, the offensive line should be much improved after a year's transition from the option to the Pro-Set, but spring drills were slowed by a rash of injuries that affected key personnel that will look to gel in fall camp.

Leading the unit is senior tackle Rob Bailey (Bonaire, Ga.) who has made 22 consecutive starts and will be an all-conference candidate. Other returning starters including senior center D'Angelo Smith (Ellenwood, Ga.), and guards James Boatright (Sr., Grayson, Ga.) and Robert Collins (R-So., Roanoke, Va.), along with senior tackle Aaron Blue (Lawrenceville, Ga.). The group of four collectively has 55 combined starts throughout their career which should factor in heavily to the overall success of the offense.

Redshirt freshman Andy Marcotte could vie for a starting spot after a productive Spring practice.
