2011 VMI Football Preview:
VMI enters its second season running the Pro-Set offense that replaced the option the Keydets employed the previous three seasons. VMI hopes to capitalize on the many returning personnel that are now familiar with the system, after having a year of experience in game competition. The Keydets return 20 letterwinners on offense including eight starters - up from six returning starters a year ago. Among the graduated starters, VMI must replace its second-leading receiver in Mario Scott, who caught 28 passes for 356 yards and three touchdowns, as well as three-year offensive line starter Bo Wren and tight end Josh Favaro. The Keydets must replace a number of key contributors to the defensive unit especially on the defensive front where the group of All-Big South tackle Josh Wine and ends Ben Brandt and Damiso Alexander must be replaced as a starting unit. Overall, 15 letter winners return on the defensive side of the ball and six players with substantial starting experience are contained in that lot. Positional Breakdown:
