2011 VMI Lacrosse Schedule:

VMI will open the 2012 season with three road games, kicking off the new season on Feb. 11 as the Keydets head to Annapolis, Md. to face the Midshipmen of the US Naval Academy. Game time is set for noon at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium.

The next two Keydet games will be at Army on Feb. 18, beginning at noon, followed by a local match up with 2011 national champion University of Virginia on Feb. 21 with a 7 p.m. start time.

VMI will return to Foster Stadium in Lexington for a pair of games, starting on Feb. 25 when it hosts Saint Joseph’s University in a non-league game. Action is slated for 1 p.m. The next game will be Tuesday March 6 when Lehigh University comes to town for a 3 p.m. tussle.

On Saturday, April 14, VMI's matchup with Mercer will also honor Wounded Warrior Project Day. The Wounded Warrior Project was founded in Roanoke, Virginia by a group of veterans and friends who took action to help the injured service men and women of this generation. The mission of the project is to “honor and empower wounded warriors.” Also, the purpose is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, as well to help injured service members with aid and assistance.

All 45 members of the team will be working towards reaching the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament for the first time since 2008. The league’s seven teams will all be vying for the conference’s automatic qualifying bid to the 2012 NCAA tournament.
