Season Preview: Attack

The Keydet attack unit is led by senior Jacob Weimer, who will look to continue to improve upon his offensive results. Every year of his collegiate career, Weimer has increased his scoring output, going from one goal in 2007, to 12 goals in 2008 and finally, up to 18 scores last year. If that trend continues in 2010, VMI should be in excellent shape offensively.

Weimer will be supported by sophomore Colin Bosse, who had a strong freshman year. Bosse, who notched 16 goals last season, had a pair of four-goal games in '09. He also earned a MAAC Rookie of the Week honor, as he was tabbed for the award for his quartet of scores Mar. 21 against Manhattan.

The final starting attack position will be a battle between sophomore Drew Leonard and freshman Bernie Mowbray. Mowbray, who comes to VMI from nearby Charlottesville, has been described as a traditional attackman and will see a good deal of time this year. Leonard began to show his potential towards the end of last season, including scoring his first career goal versus Mount St. Mary's. Team co-captain Hayden Cox and others also could see playing time this season.
