Season Preview: Goalie

For the Keydets in 2010, the cage will be manned by the winner of a positional battle between senior Sean McCoy and redshirt freshman Kelly McMinn.

McCoy, a three-year starter and one of this year’s team captains, appears to have the edge at press time. However, McMinn comes to VMI with impeccable credentials and could duel with the veteran netminder all season, perhaps even supplanting him at times.

The top two keepers will be backed up by freshman Matt Lindemann and J Rice. Lindemann got on the field at the tail end of this year’s Lee-Jackson Classic win over Washington & Lee, while Rice is the team’s only player from the Roanoke Valley.
