Season Preview: 125 & 133: The Keydets will count on an experienced leader at 125 lbs., as redshirt junior John Pope will be the team’ starter there. A year ago, Pope totaled the second-most wins on the team while going 7-4 in dual matches, all at 125. A two-year letterman, the Hoover, Alabama native also serves as one of the team’s co-captains for the 2009-10 season. At 133 lbs., the Keydets may very well turn to a freshman, Andrew Bannister, to lead the charge. A three-time state champion from LaPlata, Md., Bannister also placed third at the National Preps a season ago. Bannister will be pushed at 133 by fellow freshman Tyler Davis of Indianola, Iowa and sophomore Luke Todd, who saw action last season at 141 lbs., splitting a pair of dual matches.
