Event Group Preview: Middle Distance

The men’s middle-distance squad is fronted by junior Felix Kitur, a four-time conference champion at the 800-meter distances. Kitur, who holds the Big South record in both the indoor and outdoor versions of his trademark discipline, battled injuries last season but was still able to successfully defend his BSC championships. He also showed versatility by finishing third in the mile during the indoor conference championships, competing in that event for the first time at the NCAA level.

During the 2007-08 season, the Eldoret, Kenya native advanced to the National Championships thanks to his 1:46.75 time at regionals. At the National meet, he just missed out on All-American honors by finishing ninth. However, he did finish that season as the top-ranked freshman in the country, and looks to return to that level this season.
