Academics at VMI

VMI carefully limits the scope of the academic program in order to ensure curricular and extracurricular offerings of the highest quality. In addition to our fourteen majors and twenty-two minors, we offer a number of unusually creative and well-funded Academic Enrichment Programs that cadets may elect as complements to their formal academic experience. These include the Institute Honors Program and the Undergraduate Research Initiative, as well as opportunities offered through the Institute Writing Program.

VMI's 14 majors include: mathematics, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, economics and business, English, history, international studies, modern languages, psychology and biology.
